Manchester United faced Karma vs. Brighton

May 6, 2023 | Sports | 0 comments

On Thursday night, Brighton and Hove Albion beat Manchester United 1-0 at the Amex Stadium thanks to a late Alexis Mac Allister penalty. United wanted to tighten their hold on second place in the Premier League and push Manchester City, while Brighton wanted to keep their European hopes alive.

Both teams had chances in the first half, but neither scored. The teams went into halftime, tied at 0-0.

Brighton dominated the second half and appeared more likely to score. In the last minutes, drama occurred.

In stoppage time, a corner was taken and cleared, but Luke Shaw started a VAR check for a possible handball.

Andre Marriner gave Brighton a penalty after consulting the monitor. The Amex stadium erupted as Argentina World Cup winner Mac Allister scored the penalty.

Several social media users thought the Seagulls overreacted to the win. Some said Brighton was the superior team that night.

Mac Allister thanked his teammates for their support after the match on Sky Sports.

“Playing in this squad is effortless. My teammates are great, and we play well. Theirs too. I enjoy playing with them, and they improve me every day. I was anxious since they knew I adore scoring, and I’m thrilled for the squad whenever I score a goal.

After this win, Brighton rose to sixth in the Premier League, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool with two games in hand.

Brighton will play relegation-threatened Everton, while Manchester United will regroup before facing West Ham on Sunday night.
