Lagos is favoured over the North

Kano State’s Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has objected to the federal government’s distribution scheme for the newly authorised N500 billion palliative.

The federal government had declared that it would employ the Bank of Industry to help micro businesses in all geographic regions.

Via his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, Governor Yusuf commented on the sharing formula and said it was excessively biased in favour of Lagos state and the South-South zone at the expense of other states and zones.

He stated that the South-South Zone would receive 17% of the allotment, Lagos (47%), and other areas would receive much smaller amounts.

At a meeting with members of the Kano Cooperative Society at the state government house, Yusuf said, “This is unjust, unconstitutional, and unlawful.” He urged the responsible parties to make amends and take the necessary legal measures against the offenders, including members of the National Assembly.
