Okun political leaders unanimously agreed to work with the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday and promised to deliver en masse for our governorship candidate, Usman Ododo.

The leaders gave the assurances at a meeting called by the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, which included all First Class Traditional, Political, and Opinion Molders from the five Local Government Areas of Okun-speaking Kogi State.

The Royal Father called the meeting to promote peaceful voting.

However, the stakeholders informed the Royal Father that they had unanimously supported the APC because Kogi must be at the centre, not ethnic politics.

The speakers concluded they could not oppose the APC-led central government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Thus, political leaders and opinion makers returned to their LGAs to help the APC win the November 11 governorship election.

Erick Fiki, a prominent Okunland stakeholder, said, “With the love the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has shown to the Okun nation in the location of projects, infrastructure and in appointment, we have every reason to go in the direction of Governor Bello, President Tinubu and the APC.

Taofiq Isah, Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, said it was a collective agreement to give Okunland to the APC and its governorship candidate because Governor Bello had done so much for the Okun people.

APC supporters in Ijumu have decided to stay. It has never been this good since the State was founded. We will vote for the APC in the governorship election, he said.

Hon. Philip Orebiyi called Yagba the APC’s home and said the November 11 governorship election would show the people’s joy for Governor Bello’s love for Okun nation.

“Yagba will reward the APC for Gov. Bello’s love in upgrading infrastructure, traditional institutions, and appointments. He predicted an APC landslide victory in the governorship election.

Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communication and APC Governorship Campaign Spokesperson, called Governor Bello a lover of Okun nation at the meeting.

“Beginning with the Ejiba Ricemill, one of this administration’s biggest projects; the construction of Kabba township roads, the landmark GYB Model Science Secondary School in Kabba Bunu, and the recent establishment of the Kogi State University, Kabba, the administration has proven without mincing words that Okun is dear to its heart,” he

He added, “The Governor knows education is our industry. We’ve had to use taxes and resources to build other universities for our kids.

At this meeting, Governor Bello wants us to partner to remember Kwara State and old Kabba province.

According to Governor Bello, this partnership will allow us to write another state governorship history. Thus, let us build lasting legacies for this meeting.

“Governor Bello has long urged Okun and Ebiras residents to unite. In or out of office, he will continue to advocate for the Okun nation’s prosperity.

Fanwo described Governor Bello as a highly detribalized Kogite who values fairness and justice, promising that Usman Ododo would prioritize the Okun nation if elected.

He urged Okun leaders to ensure an overwhelming APC victory in the November 11 governorship election.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Ayoade, called the Kabba Obaro meeting a good one.

Oba Solomon Owoniyi welcomed the meeting, saying leaders needed to set an agenda and direction for traditional institutions and Okun people to ensure a peaceful election.

The Royal Father also thanked the Governor for his service to Oakland.

The meeting established a technical committee to gather the Okun people’s expectations for the incoming administration and guide them in the election.
