N’Golo Kante, a midfielder for France and a former Chelsea player, has acquired Royal Excelsior Virton in Belgium.
This occurs after the 32-year-old joined Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia after leaving Chelsea FC.
The club announced the news in a statement, noting that the change in ownership will become effective on July 1, 2023.
Prior to this season, Royal Excelsior Virton competed in the Challenger Pro League (Belgium Second Division).
The Belgian club, which hails from the village of Virton on the borders of France and Luxembourg, has never participated in the country’s top division.
Royal Excelsior Virton was demoted to Belgium’s third football division this year.
