Iyabo Ojo, a famous Nollywood actress, said that the Lagos state government was chasing her for supporting Peter Obi over Bola Tinubu in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

Tinubu, a former Lagos governor, stood on the All Progressives Congress ticket while Obi was Labour Party presidential candidate. He won the disputed presidential election.

Iyabo made the claims after the Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIRS) gave her seven days to pay N18,640,092.00 as personal income tax or face jail.

According to METROWATCHXTRA.COM, Ojo owes N7,376,000.00 in 2022 taxes and N11,264,092 in 2021 taxes.

Actress Ojo took to her Instagram story live to respond to the LIRS notice by sharing various receipts of tax payments for her brand and personal enterprises to the government.

She stated that a close acquaintance in the government caucus had suggested that the administration would come after her for supporting Obi in the last presidential election.

“Someone close to me sent me a message and said, ‘ah, I heard about this stuff two weeks ago’ since he is in their caucus. They stated, “na because you dey support Peter Obi (sic)”.

Ojo remarked, “I am not battling anybody, I don’t have issue with anybody.”

The Nollywood celebrity also questioned hefty personal income taxes and the calculating process.
