The first lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, blames negligent families and a lack of parental care for social problems and criminality. On Friday, May 26, in Awka, the governor’s wife spoke at the Anambra State Ministry of Health and State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare’s 2023 International Day of Families. She recommended against having children if they cannot properly raise them.
Mrs Soludo stressed that many of society’s vices arise from a weak family foundation, since parents are too busy to raise their children. Without parental supervision, youngsters engage in thievery, cultism, drug addiction, test fraud, hooliganism, thuggery, gambling, smoking, rape, and more.
We must prioritise child care and family. “Families improve society,” she said.
Mrs. Soludo denounced parents who give their children to domestic servants and guardians who abuse them.
“It’s sad to see parents neglect their duties and leave their kids with strangers who harm them. If you can’t parent, don’t have kids. If you have children, make sure you can support and educate them. I urge women to stop abusing housekeepers. “Love them like your own children,” she advised.
