The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has again urged the Federal Government to free its incarcerated leader, Nnamdi Kanu, due to his deteriorating health.
Kanu, according to IPOB, is suffering from physical weariness as a result of the abuse he has endured since his kidnapping in 2021.
Emma Powerful, the group’s media and publicity secretary, made the announcement on Saturday.
“The worldwide family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command of our indomitable leaders and Prophet Mazi Nnamdi Kanu once again openly voice alarm on our leader’s deteriorating health condition in DSS solitary detention,” IPOB stated.
“The information we received yesterday, Thursday, April 13th, 2023, from one of our attorneys who saw Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is worrisome.”
“According to the report, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is physically fatigued and vomiting as a result of the harsh DSS solitary confinement.”
Kanu, according to IPOB, has been denied access to his personal physicians and is malnourished.
“We should note that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has a medical ailment that DSS has been unable to address, but they have blocked him access to his own physicians and experts,” it stated.
“The physical weariness of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is linked to his untreated medical condition and consequences arising from injuries incurred during torture, a lack of sufficient diet, and a lack of medicine in solitary confinement for over two years.”
