Introducing Doris Uzoka, prospective Minister of State for Finance of Nigeria

After weeks of waiting, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu revealed some of his cabinet members last week.

President Tinubu presented us with his first 28, which included technocrats, politicians, and longtime acquaintances.

President Tinubu nominated eight women out of 28 to fulfil his promise to empower women.

Dr. Doris Nkiru Uzoka-Aniche, a banker, medical practitioner, and politician, is 41 and a technocrat.

The ministerial candidate is a seasoned financial expert. Financial risk and portfolio management are her specialties.

On October 16, 1981, Mr. and Mrs. Uzoka welcomed Dr. Uzoka-Aniche. She studied medicine at Benin University. She studied advanced risk and portfolio management, financial engineering, and data science. TRIUM Global Executive MBA (Masters of Business Administration).

The youngest cabinet member, Governor Hope Uzodinma, nominated her as Finance Commissioner in 2021.

President Tinubu chose Dr. Uzoka-Aniche because of her professional background and longstanding relationship with the Lagos ruling elite.

At Zenith Bank, she was General Manager. She led HR and Training. She returned to the Treasury. She pushed herself to excel in the financial markets after all these responsibilities. She trained in fixed income, currencies, and heated treasury sales and became the Bank’s treasurer.

Analytical and quantitative, she is goal-oriented. Her outstanding achievement boosted Zenith Bank’s profitability and won her several promotions.

She is Imo State’s Commissioner for Finance and a top banker.

Dr. Uzoka-Aniche flourished at Zenith Bank. She excelled in Imo’s cabinet. This is her chance to prove herself as a federal Minister of State for Finance.
