In the title fight against Arsenal, Pep Guardiola cautions the Man City players to learn from past mistakes

Pep Guardiola cautioned his Manchester City players not to repeat history against Fulham on Sunday.

The City now leads the title race after beating Arsenal 4-1. After beating Arsenal 3-1 away in February to rekindle their championship ambitions, City drew 1-1 at relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

Guardiola said: “We had some margin then, today we don’t. We have seven games, Arsenal five. It’s close.

“Maybe that’s a horrible example, since I always want a performance and against Forest it was the best—we conceded one shot on target and performed extremely well after an extraordinarily taxing game in London. The squad performed well, but we dropped points, which we must avoid.”

Guardiola said the championship fight is still ongoing despite Arsenal getting to within two points with games in hand. “When people say it’s over, it’s not,” remarked the City boss. “It’ll be over when it’s over. Seven games remain.

We must now win at Fulham’s particular stadium against an organised team. Our work brings us closer, but we are still determining.
