In Jigawa, the NDLEA detains 422 people in connection with drug-related crimes

Jigawa State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has detained 422 drug dealers and recovered 999.335kg of illicit narcotics and psychoactive substances.

During a celebration of the International Day against drug abuse and illegal trafficking held at the Command’s headquarters in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, on Thursday, State NDLEA Commandant Mu’azu Aliyu Dan Musa informed reporters of this.

He said that between June 2022 and June 2023, the Command successfully apprehended 422 drug offenders and seized 999.335kg of narcotic and psychoactive narcotics.

He claims that “409 men and 13 females” out of the 422 suspects were detained throughout the evaluation period.

“During the time under consideration, 186 counselled as well as rehabilitated 15 of the 94 condemned.”

He made a call to local government council Chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, and community leaders to work with the Command to create a drug-free society.
