The World Bank helps build Imo State. Several state elementary schools have been renovated using bank funds. The governor is making sure all state schools and colleges benefit from such efforts. We go through the proper channels to get the financial rewards. We’re also investigating new relationships to help more schools.
Several schoolchildren are spotted selling products. How is the state addressing out-of-school children?
Parents/guardians cause this oddity. The state administration is speaking out. Hawking is a popular way for parents to supplement their income. This practice bothers the authorities since it denies children their education rights for profit. Hawking during school hours is ludicrous. We hope the World Bank will help get kids off the streets during school hours. The Government School Feeding Initiative continues to feed and keep schoolchildren off the streets. We’re preventing schoolchildren from peddling. Several of the perpetrators are illegal immigrants.
My ministry must work with other major institutions like the Ministry of Environment to resolve difficulties. The latter must be completely engaged to get those youngsters off the streets and back in school.
What is the government doing to provide quality special education to challenged people and physically promote adult education in the state?
The government is helping these exceptional individuals. At Mbaitolu Council, we have a unique school in Ofekata Orodo. We’ve also written to UNESCO to encourage adult education centres. We have adult education centres in all LGAs, but sometimes there need to be more instructors. We encourage individuals to donate educational tools like TVs to improve learning. The government plans to open a few specific centres for vulnerable people, but we urge them to be patient.
