At Aboh Mbaise, Imo State, dignitaries attended Dame Dorothy Ihedioha’s funeral on Friday. She was Emeka Ihedioha’s mother, a former Imo State governor.

Governors Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Senators Aminu Tambuwal and Ifeanyi Okowa, Prince Uche Secondus, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party were also present.

Speaking during the burial, Ihedioha emphasised the value of forgiveness in human relationships.

He said that his late mother instilled in him and his brothers the values of forbearance, humility, and service.

“As so many others have attested, my mother had a good and active life. She had much to teach us, particularly prayer, humility, service, and forgiveness.

“I wish to implore you to adopt these values for contentment in earthly existence.

The former governor added, “I, my brothers, and the whole Ihedioha family are humbled and extremely thankful for the love, prayers, and solidarity, given to our family since the demise of our matriarch.

Rev. Henry Ndukuba, the primate of the Anglican Communion in Nigeria, warned the crowd to live a life of service and said that death is a necessary conclusion.

He urged the populace to be ready for the day when death would come so that they might secure a seat in the Lord’s heavenly kingdom.
