Governor Hope Uzodimma’s first-term performance has earned him re-election, according to the Imo State Joint Parliament.

The group, which included serving and former state and federal legislators, urged PDP and LP candidates Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Senator Athan Achonu, respectively, to drop their campaigns and support Uzodimma for the November 11 gubernatorial election given his stellar performance in three and a half years.

At a news conference yesterday in Owerri, group spokesperson Ezediaro Henry Uzoma promised to support the PDP or LP candidate after Uzodimma’s second term.

He claimed it was the first time current and previous state MPs had joined together to make a governance choice.

Senator Hope Uzodinma has shown that experienced lawmakers may be effective executive branch managers. Senator Uzodimma’s development efforts as governor of Imo State have restored the state’s glory to that of Dee Sam Mbakwe. As the adage goes, one good term deserves another,” and we unanimously determined that Senator Uzodimma has the mandate of the whole Imo State Joint Assembly to seek re-election as governor of Imo State due to his massive projects and exceptional administrative abilities.

“We ask governorship candidates of other political parties, especially those of the PDP and Labour Party, who are equally former senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to shelve their desires and support their colleague and current governor for another term. Senators Samuel Anyanwu and Athan Achonu have excellent reasons to back their colleague, who is now in power in the state for another four years. “With a clear guarantee, the Imo State Joint Assembly shall support either of the two once Senator Hope Uzodimma’s second term expires in January 2028.”
