Lawyer Ken Imasuagbon, a former candidate for governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, resigned from the PDP on Wednesday.

Imasuagbon should have mentioned his reasons for leaving the PDP in a letter he submitted to the state party chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and the head of his local government, Esan South-east Ward 2.
He expressed gratitude to the PDP’s leadership and the entire membership, calling his time spent there memorable.
“From 2009 in what was known as the ‘Ewohimi Declaration,’ where I had joined the PDP, has remained a remarkable journey for me and I want to thank God almighty for his goodness,” the letter’s first line reads.
“Over the course of my political career in the PDP, I had the chance to meet some very remarkable people with whom I shared wonderful experiences that I will always treasure.
“Yet, the present reality has made it clear that a man must eventually move on with his life at some point.
I formally tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the above reasons. I want to thank the PDP’s whole leadership and membership once more.
Imansuangbon, who worked tirelessly for the PDP and later the Grace Group, the PDP group that later evolved into the Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria, and finally the All Progressives Congress, has been running for governor since 2007, as you may recall.
Imasuagbon and a few other candidates resigned in support of Governor Godwin Obaseki in 2020 after he defected from the APC, where he had pursued his second-term ambition.
