The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Nasiru Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governor-elect of Kebbi State on Sunday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), INEC ruled the 18 March gubernatorial election in the state inconclusive.
A repeat election was held on Saturday in 142 voting units spanning over 20 of the state’s 21 Local Government Units.
The Returning Officer, Yusuf Sa’idu of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, declared the final results at the INEC headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

He stated that Mr Idris received 409,225 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Aminu Bande of the PDP, who received 360,940 votes, and Udu Idris of the People’s Redemption Party, who received 3,103 votes.
The total number of votes cast was 800,560, with 781,478 legitimate votes and 19,082 rejected votes, according to the returning officer.
“I, Prof. Yusuf Sa’idu, Returning Officer of the gubernatorial election conducted on April 15, 2023, announce that Nasiru Idris of APC, having met the conditions of the law and received the largest number of votes, is thus returned elected as Governor of Kebbi,” he said.
