Asake, a Nigerian artist, said the London performance tragedy would haunt him forever. ABC News interviewed the “Mr Money With The Vibe” singer.
Recall the Tribune Online article from December 14, 2022, stating that Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, of Newham, east London, passed away in a hospital after suffering severe injuries in the Asake concert crush.
“I’m not going to lie to you; what occurred in London is like something that will never leave me; it’s a big reason why I have to maintain my distance from others and equilibrium.
“It’s like a hurt that will never leave me, the singer stated. The 24-year-old said he used to dance but switched to singing because it paid better. His dad’s early music exposure piqued his singing desire.
“My parents played me lots of classical songs,” he remarked. They enjoy music, and my father wakes up with a cigarette and loud music. After all, I can sing. I added music.
“Maybe I bounce on music because I can dance. I never wanted to be a musician, and dance, and it’s watery. Dancing is my passion.
I fell in love with money after dancing. I wondered, “Would dance earn me enough?”
