President Bola Tinubu stated Thursday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, that he was enthusiastic about winning the last presidential election despite the Central Bank of Nigeria’s failed cashless policy.
On a thank-you visit to the Royal Fathers, the President gave separate speeches in the palaces of Oba Sikiru Adetona in Ijebu-Ode and Oba Adedotun Gbadebo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
President Tinubu detailed his fears regarding the theft of monies and the cashless policy’s failure in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election and how he had sought wisdom and advice from Oba Adetona during his palace visit.
The President invoked “Baba Emilokan” to overcome electoral challenges.
Our money was taken. It failed. I realised I had come to this castle to summon our famous freedom.
I summoned that spirit twice. Baba Emilokan spirit. Baba is. He’ll say he’s straightforward and decisive. He said, “Money or no money, we will win the election.”
President Tinubu thanked Oba Adetona, all the Obas, elected officials, and his “personal buddy,” Ogun East Senator Gbenga Daniel.
He thanked them for their support during the vital 2023 election.
He told Kabiyesi:
Thank you for taking me and responding to me. May you live long and see Nigeria prosper.”
He also recognised Nigerian billionaire Chief Mike Adenuga and praised his economic accomplishments.
President Tinubu hailed the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, for hosting him in Abeokuta, calling him a remarkable leader.
He pledged to keep his commitments and asked for prayers from state residents to advance the nation.
“I fulfilled my promise to return with triumph and the crown.
Hope is renewed. Hope never dies. Hope will revitalise you.
With the grace of Almighty God, Nigeria will witness good transformation, only bear these small stages of suffering.
“This is our only nation. I have had a green passport since I was a refugee.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State commended the President for visiting the state, calling him a man of extraordinary grace and a living testament of perseverance.
The Governor noted President Tinubu’s imaginative politics and stated that his first few weeks in government prepared him for duty.
In separate palace speeches, Oba Adetona and Oba Gbadebo praised President Tinubu for his leadership, calling him a divine instrument to fix previous mistakes.
They asked Nigerians to support the President and prayed for his guidance and health.
Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akaraigbo of Remoland, praised the President for his strong start but said the people need immediate relief from the present problems.
He praised the administration’s good actions and reminded the President of his vow to develop Remo.
I remember when you came to the palace, and all we said was our hope is for you to go and win the primaries and that once you win, I’m sure God would lead us there. God took us there.
“Remember what you said in Remo.” Remo’s growth astonished you, given Shagamu’s closeness to Lagos. “Mr. President, walk that talk,” he said.
