On Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the late evening, Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the November 2021 Anambra State elections and a crucial member of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council in the 2023 election, turned to Twitter to clarify the situation.
“I haven’t discussed accepting any positions with Tinubu’s administration with anybody. Don’t believe the rumours, please. Ozigbo emphasised his undying devotion to Peter Obi in his tweet by writing, “I am still 100% Obedient.

On January 24, 2023, President Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate at the time, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate, received frank advice from Ozigbo that they either support Peter Obi or risk losing the February 25 presidential election.
Ozigbo also denied being present at any “Abuja meeting” with Atiku’s team in the same statement.
