Valentine Ozigbo, a prominent player in Nigerian politics and Peter Obi’s special adviser on technology and strategic alliances, has denied rumours tying him to a potential position in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
On Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the late evening, Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the November 2021 Anambra State elections and a crucial member of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council in the 2023 election, turned to Twitter to clarify the situation.
“I haven’t discussed accepting any positions with Tinubu’s administration with anybody. Don’t believe the rumours, please. Ozigbo emphasised his undying devotion to Peter Obi in his tweet by writing, “I am still 100% Obedient.
I haven’t discussed accepting any form of position in Tinubu’s administration with anybody. Don’t believe the rumours, please. I am still completely obedient.
There follows a period of heated rumour over Ozigbo’s political loyalties. He has been a steadfast supporter of Nigerian politician Peter Obi.
On January 24, 2023, President Bola Tinubu, the APC candidate at the time, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate, received frank advice from Ozigbo that they either support Peter Obi or risk losing the February 25 presidential election.
Ozigbo also denied being present at any “Abuja meeting” with Atiku’s team in the same statement.
Ozigbo’s explanation tweet aims to reassure his supporters and the general public that he is still fully committed to helping Peter Obi achieve his goals.
Political observers observe that Ozigbo’s significant position in the politics of Anambra State and his role as Peter Obi’s Special Advisor make any change in his allegiance notable. However, he is still dedicated to the cause he has long championed.
Key figures like Ozigbo are keenly monitored as Nigeria’s political environment changes for their next movements.
For the time being, Ozigbo wants the general public to be aware that he is still “100% Obidient.”
