Health and educational facilities are donated by Dangote to coal communities

The Kogi State coal mining towns in Ankpa have received multimillion naira in donations from the Dangote Coal Mines Limited for medical and educational infrastructure.

The recently opened facilities are situated in the host villages of Awo Akpali and Awo Ojuwo, according to Mr. Nuhu Elujah, General Manager of Special Tasks.

Responding to inquiries from reporters, Mr. Elujah said that the projects were included in the Community Development Agreement (CDA) that had previously been signed by the host communities and Dangote Coal Mines Ltd with their mutual approval.

He said the facilities were a part of the business’s CSR initiatives.

He continued by saying that the business would be in charge of funding the Clinic’s first launch as well as staffing it.

Before being turned over to representatives of the two villages, the commissioning was carried out by Alhaji Ibrahim Abagwu, the Chairman of the Ankpa Local Government Area, who Prince Yakubu Ishiaka, the Education Secretary, represented.

The Chairman expressed his happiness over the Projects’ successful completion and emphasised the importance of community maintenance to improve rural communities’ quality of life.

Samuel Olaetan, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, praised the firm’s management for keeping its commitments and asked the host communities to help it implement its CSR initiatives.

His Royal Highness, Onu Ojoku, thanked the Dangote Group for its efforts in seeing that the agreement that the two parties made in his Palace a few years ago was realised via the representation of his Council Secretary, Alhaji Usman.

The National Chairman of the Awo Community Development Association, Mr. Robert Agagwu, expressed his appreciation for Dangote for completing and delivering the projects on time.

He pledged the support of his organisation to the business.

Dangote representatives were also present: Mr Michael Etu, Director of Finance; Mr. Abrauna Keri, General Manager of Human Asset Management; Mr. Aluka Bem; Ms. Yahaya Zakari, and Mr Umar Mohammed, Manager of Community and Governmental Affairs.
