Haaland will not travel with Man City to Brighton, a critical match

Manchester City’s quest for the Premier League title has hit a snag. Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has been ruled out of Thursday’s crucial clash against Brighton.

Haaland, who missed City’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final due to a muscle injury sustained in the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid, is yet to recover fully. This setback comes at a crucial time for City as they aim to narrow the gap with league leaders Arsenal.

Despite Haaland’s absence, City manager Pep Guardiola remains optimistic, stating that the injury is not severe and the striker could return for Sunday’s game against Nottingham Forest.

However, there is some positive news for City as England internationals Phil Foden and John Stones have been cleared to play against Brighton after dealing with their fitness issues.

“Erling is not ready for tomorrow, but the other two, they are ready,” Guardiola confirmed during a press briefing on Wednesday. “I know it is not a big issue, but he is not allowed for this game.”

As the thrilling title race enters its final stages, City, currently in third place, is trailing leaders Arsenal by four points. Despite this gap, City has two games in hand over Arsenal and has played one match less than second-placed Liverpool, who face Everton in a crucial Merseyside derby.
