Government of Benue signs MOU to advance energy and health sectors

A significant partnership aimed at fostering academic and clinical collaboration has been established between the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi and the Shanghai Haitian Hospital. This collaboration, marked by the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), encompasses joint studies, training initiatives, and educational exchanges of mutual benefit.

The signing ceremony, held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House in Makurdi, saw Governor Hyacinth Alia expressing his enthusiasm and optimism about the potential of these partnerships to attract further investments into the state. Governor Alia affirmed his administration’s commitment to welcoming more investors, emphasising the pivotal role such collaborations play in enhancing the state’s healthcare sector.

Highlighting the significance of the partnership with the Shanghai Haitian Hospital, Governor Alia stressed his administration’s determination to strengthen healthcare infrastructure within the state, aiming to reduce the reliance on medical tourism abroad. He underscored the importance of channelling resources back into the state’s healthcare system, ultimately improving the overall health outcomes and lifespan of its citizens.

In addition to the healthcare partnership, the state government has forged another crucial alliance with Sinoki System Limited for the establishment of a Hybrid Solar Panel Factory in Benue State. Governor Alia hailed this partnership as a timely solution to the state’s persistent power challenges, recognising the vital role of stable electricity in fostering business growth and economic development.

Emphasising Benue State’s readiness for investment, Governor Alia reiterated the state’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. He called upon more investors to explore the untapped opportunities within the state and assured continued government support in facilitating investment endeavors.

The event also featured representations from the partnering entities, with William Wang representing the Shanghai Haitian Hospital and Liu Hai Ding representing Sinoki System Limited. Their presence underscored the commitment of both parties to collaborating with the Benue State government for the collective benefit and progress of the state.
