On Tuesday, Kano State Gov. Abba Yusuf praised President Bola Tinubu’s political commitment to protecting Nigerians’ lives and property.

According to NAN, Yusuf made the commendation while speaking at a hangout with 222 influential youths in the state who have become good Samaritans.

“I want to use this opportunity to commend President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in ensuring the primary responsibility of government, which is protecting citizens’ lives and property,” he said.

The governor urged influential youths to be honest with themselves and society by obeying the law.

He said the state government would help the Police and other security agencies perform well.

He warned that youths who broke the law would be arrested and prosecuted.

He described repentant youths as victims of desperate politicians who drug and use drugs for political gain.

Yusuf advised them to take advantage of their opportunities because the state government would help them improve their lives.

“We are satisfied that you have avoided crime and promised a good life.

We will provide full scholarships at any level for those who want to return to school.

He said skill acquisition centres will train talent and provide start-up capital to become self-sufficient.

Earlier, Police Commissioner Hussaini Gumel thanked the governor for supporting the Police in maintaining peace in the state.

The Police have submitted a list of requirements to the governor based on the trade the repentant youths chose, Gumel said.

He said, “We will continue to be proactive to sustain the ongoing peaceful atmosphere in our areas of supervision for peace, progress and political stability of our state.”

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, praised the Police and other security agencies for fighting crime in the state.

The Emir said the Police’s professionalism and commitment improved security inside and outside the metropolis.

Thank the Nigeria Police, Navy, DSS, Civil Defence Corps, and other law enforcement agencies for improving state security.

I applaud all the forces who risked their lives to ensure our people sleep with their eyes closed.

He said, “We will continue to mobilise residents on the need to volunteer credible information on dubious characters movement for prompt security action.”
