The Super Eagles winger has moved from the Greek powerhouses to Adana Demirspor of the Turkish Super Lig.
Adana Demirspor of the Turkish Super Lig has exercised its option to purchase the Super Eagles’ international winger.
Onyekuru, who played on loan for Adana Demirspor of the Turkish Super Lig last season, appeared in twenty-eight league games for the club team. He contributed eight goals and two assists, which helped the team finish fourth in the league and qualify for the Europa Conference competition next year.
The Nigerian winger, who spent last season on loan from Olympiakos, a 45-time Super League Greece champion, with a purchase option, has recently finalized a transfer to Adana Demirspor.
The club reportedly activated the purchase option in the 26-year-loan-old’s agreement, resulting in a 3.5 million euro transfer price and giving the winger a three-year contract, according to reports in the Turkish press.
After making many transfers in previous years but hardly adjusting, Onyekuru’s outstanding league performances were enough to persuade Adana Demirspor to join him permanently. The Nigerian has finally found his feet.
For six years, the Nigerian has signed contracts with Everton, Anderlecht, Galatasaray, Monaco, Olympiakos, and Adana Demirspor.
Onyekuru hopes to shock the Turkish heavyweights next season and go as far as possible in the Europa Conference League after having a forgettable season with Olympiakos when he only managed to score one goal in twenty-seven games. The international player from Nigeria will go to Mavi Imekler’s training session at Turkey’s Düzce Topuk Plateau.
