A coalition of former APC candidates for the House of Representatives has urged with Nigerians to be patient and support Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly with regard to the elimination of the oil subsidy.
The group made the request on Friday in Abuja during a news conference, praising the president for taking the risky action.
During his inaugural address, the president said that the gasoline subsidy had been eliminated, ending the nation’s oil subsidy system.
The goal is to open up the market and let market forces decide on the pricing.
At the press conference, when the coalition’s chairman, Hon. Chisom Dike, promised to back the incoming government’s policies, the coalition praised the policy.
The organisation “calls on fellow Nigerians to show restraint and allow the president to outline his plans for the country fully. Building a country takes thoughtful planning, collaboration, and action.
Our strength rests in our variety, and embracing the collective identity of being a Nigerian is important. We also encourage Nigerians to put aside their differences and unite.
“We must strive for a shared objective of national growth and togetherness, beyond the barriers of religion, tribe, political party, or personal views.
“The forum wants the cooperation of all and accoutrements for the President Tinubu-led government via active involvement in the growth and development of our dear country, realising that the burden of progress lies with each and every one of us.
By cooperating, we can overcome our current obstacles and build a successful, inclusive, and sustainable Nigeria.
“We applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for having the extraordinary guts and will to address the “Elephant in the Room,” the gasoline subsidy. We encourage everyone to have patience with the government because it cares about its residents and will do everything in its power to raise our level of life as soon as possible.
