According to www.aclsports.com, Fatai Osho, the Head Coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) winners Rivers United, has resigned from the club.
Osho, the club’s second-in-command in technical matters, announced his choice to his followers in a straightforward manner in a simple message on his social media account.
“I quit as the Head Coach of Rivers United FC.” “My best congratulations to the team,” Fatai Osho said on his official Facebook page.
According to ACLSports, Osho, a former coach of Enyimba FC and Remo Stars, opted to retire owing to what he perceived to be a period of disdain and contempt by the club administration, particularly General Manager Okechukwu Kpalukwu.
The coach, known as “Sugar Ball,” quit and abandoned the club while on their way from Kaduna, where they held Niger Tornadoes to a 0-0 draw yesterday in the NPFL, to Jos, the site of Wednesday’s rescheduled game against Lobi Stars.
But, Rivers State’s Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Christopher Green, indicated that he has yet to be officially told by the coach.
“I have not received any correspondence to that effect, but I must add that I was informed less than an hour ago,” the successful Sports administrator said to www.aclsports.com.
“I wish him the best if that is how he (Osho) wants to do it, but there should be procedures in place,” Green added.
Osho joined Rivers United at the start of the 2021/2022 football season as an assistant to the league’s longest-serving coach, Stanley Eguma, and played a key role in the team’s first league title in eleven years.
