Fashola: APC Already Knew Election Results Before INEC Announcement

Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing, has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) knew their results from the situation room before the final pronouncement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Fashola asked Nigerians to sheath their swords and put a stop to any conflicts that emerged during the just concluded 2023 general elections.

Any conflicts, according to the Minister, should not last beyond the political season.

He stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

Fashola, who oversaw the Tinubu-Shettima campaign’s Election Strategy Directorate, stated that the party trained 2,000 agents from throughout the country and sent them back to their respective states to teach agents.

“Some of the young people came from the United States to campaign for Tinubu,” he added, adding that the party knew the results of the votes before INEC announced them.

Fashola went on to say that Nigerians are indivisible beyond religion and ethnicity and that after the elections, they should “wear the trousers of grownups” and mature.

“I think we’re too close at the hip to let differences about elections linger beyond elections,” he remarked. We are linked in far too many places.

“For example, if you’re talking about ethnic concerns, my first cousin is Lois Ganiu Okafor, and I have another cousin, Fola Okeke, God bless her soul.” So, which of them do I dislike?

“I believe some of the language went the wrong way, and I believe everyone in the room should now wear the clothing of grownups, which I believe is already happening and tempers are flaring.” When there is competition, we might be excessive at times. I believe maturity will emerge as time passes.”
