Abass Mimiko, the younger sibling of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, has been officially declared as the gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the forthcoming November elections in Ondo State.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during the ZLP primary election, which was conducted at the party’s headquarters in Akure. Party Mimiko’s unanimously affirmed Abass Mimiko’s candidacy.
In his acceptance speech, Mimiko, a medical practitioner, outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing key areas such as education, healthcare, the economy, and security.
He declared, “We are poised to make a significant impact in this election; we will prioritize food security and aim to achieve a surplus of food within a year of assuming office in Ondo State.”
Mimiko also promised to focus on providing accessible and quality education, promoting industrialization, facilitating housing projects, and delivering free healthcare services to all residents of Ondo State.
Expressing gratitude for the support he has received, Mimiko acknowledged his brother’s endorsement and expressed confidence in his gubernatorial aspirations.
