The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has encouraged Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past governor, to refrain from accepting the state Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission’s (PCACC) request to appear in a fictitious $1 video.
This is stated in a statement made available to journalists in Kano on Thursday and was jointly signed by the state chairman and secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas and Alhaji Zakari Sarina, respectively.
Ganduje had been called by the panel to testify before it over suspected $1 bribe footage on Thursday.
This was verified to reporters on Thursday in Kano by the commission’s chairman, Muhuyi Rimingado.
According to Rimingado, the commission anticipates that Ganduje would come before it the following week so that he may defend himself in the continuing inquiry.
In response, the APC said it had realised that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP(which )’s is in court) replay of the politically driven Dollar video problem was part of a diabolical attempt to damage the former governor’s reputation.
The article went on to say that a similar situation was used to ruin the former governor’s chances of winning a ticket in the party’s 2019 gubernatorial race.
The statement said that this time, the critics are waging a slander campaign to sour relations between President Bola Tinubu and Ganduje, one of the President’s staunchest friends in the North.
Although Ganduje’s services to the Tinubu political project have been extensively praised since the primary election’s administration, the APC maintained that his relationship with the President is still friendly.
