Details: Aregbesola, the face of Osun politics, is unwavering in return

Former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola remains steadfast in his quest to reclaim his political influence in Osun state.

Aregbesola, a two-term former Governor of the state, is actively engaged in efforts to restore his prominence. He has directed members of his political group, Omoluabi Progressives, to intensify awareness campaigns and expand their membership base.

In a recent social media post on Friday, May 3, 2024, Aregbesola disclosed the outcome of a stakeholders’ meeting of Omoluabi Progressives, emphasizing the importance of communicating the group’s vision to members at the grassroots level.

A key objective of Aregbesola and Omoluabi Progressives is to position themselves to produce the next Governor of Osun state.

Aregbesola, serving as the grand patron, established the group amid internal discord within the mainstream All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state. This discord led to punitive measures, including expulsion, against his supporters.

Following a bitter power struggle with his successor, Gboyega Oyetola, Aregbesola, once the dominant political figure in Osun state, found himself marginalized within the APC ranks.

Despite being out of office, Aregbesola, unlike Oyetola, who is now a Minister, continues to pursue a resurgence in Osun state politics through Omoluabi Progressives.
