Concerned about the general lack of response to Kanu’s detention

IPOB is concerned about international silence on Nnamdi Kanu’s incarceration by the Nigerian government.

The group’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, also expressed displeasure that international agencies had not mediated in Kanu’s case despite court injunctions to release him unconditionally.

He added that the world had watched Kanu’s health deteriorate in jail.

“We express our displeasure on the silence of the UN, EU, AU, and ECOWAS while Nigeria grossly disobeys Local and International laws regarding the unconditional release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“We are pained as the World Community watches in silence as the health of our leader deteriorates in solitary confinement of the Nigeria government where he has been imprisoned unjustly and unlawfully against all UN and Nigeria Court Orders for almost 2 years,” Powerful added.

Powerful further claimed that the federal authorities blackmailed him to prevent his release.

“Every time his issue is coming up either here in Nigeria or outside Nigeria, the Nigerian Government would sponsor several deaths in the South East to ascribe it to IPOB and people will regard IPOB as a terrorist organisation,” he stated.

“Both his Application to transfer him to Kuje incarceration institution and Application for his bail was ripped for hearing, but Supreme Court failed to hear them and deliver a bench judgement demonstrating that the Fulani administration controls them.

He said IPOB has stayed peaceful and followed the law to seek justice for Kanu despite all the provocation.

Strong continued, “In all these human rights and court abuses, there seems to be a conspiratory silence among foreign organisations and her affiliate Human Rights Organisations.”

The group reiterated his poor health since the Nigerian government refused to release its leader.

“While the health of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu continues to deteriorate and the Nigerian government refuses to respect lawful orders and the World maintains its criminal silence, IPOB will do all within our ability to guarantee that our leader does not die in captivity,” it said.

Nnamdi Kanu’s liberation is black freedom. Nnamdi Kanu is innocent, and he is not a terrorist or a Nigerian politician who loots the treasury; his only crime is demanding Nigeria’s persecuted Biafrans’ liberation.

“We are imploring the International Community and African Union in particular not to blame IPOB for whatever becomes the fallout of Nigeria’s ongoing disobedience to both local and international laws in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu now,” Powerful said.
