Recently, Chukwuma Okenwa, the executive director of Lead Network Africa and a political analyst, discussed the ongoing presidential court case with the media. During the chat, he was questioned about Bola Tinubu’s absence from court on Monday.

Tinubu’s attendance in court is not required, Okenwa retorted, and it would be best for him to stay away from the proceedings.

Tinubu’s absence, in Okenwa’s opinion, is preferable since it would dispel any notion that he is endorsing a particular candidate. He claimed that Tinubu would appear in court and “appear to be there for the benefit of a particular candidate.” Thus, in Okenwa’s opinion, Tinubu need not appear in court throughout the legal process.

Okenwa talked about Tinubu’s absence and also made some remarks about the court proceedings. He remarked that the first day of the hearing’s court case impressed him. Okenwa is confident that the legal proceedings will go smoothly and that everyone will enjoy themselves.

Hear him: “He should avoid the court since doing so will give the impression that he is there to serve the interests of a specific candidate. Hence, Tinubu doesn’t need to appear in court.
