The Nigerian international is still seeking his first Serie A start, but on Friday night, Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to help ten-man AC Milan beat AS Roma 1-2 in a thrilling matchday three match.

Before Chukwueze made his third league appearance of the season, Milan was two goals ahead and a man down.

Olivier Giroud scored a ninth-minute penalty at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to give the visitors the lead.

Milan extended their lead three minutes into the second half when Rafael Leao hit a bicycle kick.

Milan saw Fikayo Tomori sent off for a second booking on the hour before Stefano Pioli substituted Chukwueze for Christian Pulisic in the 76th minute.

The Super Eagles winger got six touches but completed 80% of his passes.

AS Roma substitute Leonardo Spinazzola scored in stoppage time to give Jose Mourinho hope. Milan deservedly won their third straight.

Milan’s victory gave Pioli 300 points as coach and nine points for the season. The Italian coach becomes the second Milan coach after Carlo Ancelotti to collect 300 Serie A points.

Milan leads Serie A after the victory and might remain there if fierce rivals Inter Milan and Napoli lose this weekend.
