The #ThisGirlInvests campaign has just been launched by United Capital Asset Management, a division of United Capital, to encourage women in Nigeria to have financial stability and independence. The programme aims to support women in creating a sound investment culture, increasing their involvement in Nigeria’s capital markets, and building a solid retirement financial plan.
The desire to overcome Nigeria’s very large gender gap in financial inclusion gave rise to the campaign. The campaign emphasises the truth of women’s views regarding investing and the detrimental effects of delaying investing on their money and general well-being throughout retirement via a digital video advertising that swiftly went viral on social media platforms.
The documentary-style movie covers three women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, indicating that although many women have lofty financial goals for retirement, many do not. A call to action is presented at the end of the film, imploring women to take control of their money by contributing to the United Capital Wealth for Women Fund.
The United Capital Wealth for Women Fund, which was first introduced in 2017, has recently been repositioned as an investment fund for women planning their retirement that offers them competitive returns by investing in high-yielding fixed-income assets and particular quoted stocks from the Nigerian Exchange.
Odiri Oginni, the MD/CEO of United Capital Asset Management, expressed excitement about kicking off the #ThisGirlInvests campaign and contributing to the reduction of the gender gap in financial inclusion in Nigeria.
Research has shown that women have a culture of saving but not investing, which is problematic since investment is essential for building wealth over time. Through the Wealth for Women Fund, we give women the resources and skills they need to attain financial independence and security, particularly during retirement, since we think every woman deserves the chance to do so. The fund provides a diverse range of assets with the goal of assisting women in building wealth over time.
The Wealth for Women Fund offers a number of advantages in addition to competitive returns, including tax-exempt dividend payments, a diversified portfolio, expert fund administration, and a comparatively cheap membership fee beginning at only N10,000.
A number of educational activities and events are planned as part of the #ThisGirlInvests initiative to assist women in learning more about investing. The initiative demonstrates United Capital Plc’s dedication to assisting women in attaining financial independence in line with the Sustainable Development Goal of achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.
