Nathan Tella reflects on the profound significance of clinching the Bundesliga title in his inaugural season with Bayer Leverkusen, deeming it an extraordinary achievement.

In a historic moment, Die Werkself secured their maiden Bundesliga crown in 120 years with a commanding 5-0 triumph over Werder Bremen last Sunday.

Expressing his delight and exhaustion, the Nigeria international emphasized his joy in contributing to the team’s triumph. “Feeling a mix of happiness and fatigue, but ultimately overjoyed for the fans, players, staff, and everyone associated with the club,” Tella conveyed to ESPN.

He continued, acknowledging the monumental nature of the occasion: “I believe this ranks among, if not the pinnacle day in the club’s history. I’m thrilled that we all share in it. Champions certainly deserve to savor this moment.”

Arriving at the BayArena just last summer from Southampton in a deal reportedly worth €23.3 million, the 24-year-old winger has made a significant impact, netting five goals in the Bundesliga this season.

Reflecting on his rapid integration into Leverkusen’s success, Tella remarked, “It’s undeniably special. I’ve always recognized that trophies are never guaranteed. To have the chance to join this club in my debut season, alongside an incredibly talented squad and exceptional coaching staff, and secure silverware at the first attempt is truly remarkable. It marks a pivotal moment in the club’s history.”
