On Tuesday, April 25, President Muhammadu Buhari will travel from Abuja to Accra to attend Ghana’s President Nana Akuffo-3rd Ado’s Extraordinary Session of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC).
The President will speak at the high-level debate on methods to promote peace and security in the battle against maritime-related crimes, according to presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina.
President Buhari led regional efforts to combat and prevent piracy as the Assembly’s immediate past Chair.
The Prevention of Piracy and Other Maritime Offences Act, 2019, (POMO Act) was approved by Nigeria’s National Assembly in June 2019.
The President will be joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, NSA Maj.-Gen Babagana Monguno (Rtd), NIA Director General Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and other government officials.
