Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president in 2023, was not a registered member of the LP, according to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s compelling evidence.
As The Nation reported, Tinubu and Shettima presented a copy of the Labour Party’s membership list from the party’s Anambra branch to support their claim.
Tinubu and Shettima responded to Peter Obi and the Labour Party’s appeal by claiming that Obi was unable to run for president in 2023 since he was not a member of the LP at the time of the election.
What Shettima and Tinubu said in opposition to Peter Obi and the Labour Party
The letter from the LP to the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission, dated April 25, 2022, was sent via their attorney, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) (INEC).
At the start of Tinubu and Shettima’s defence in Obi and LP’s case before the Presidential Election Petition Court, Olanipekun submitted a new document (PEPC).
Notwithstanding Livy Uzoukwu’s (SAN) objections, the court allowed the materials to be entered as Exhibits RA17 and RA18. They were filed on behalf of Peter Obi and the Labour Party.
The results of the presidential election held on February 25 that resulted in Tinubu and Shettima being elected as president and vice president are being contested in court by Peter Obi.
APC supporters urge President Tinubu to appoint Wike as Minister in response to the PDP crisis. Chief Tony Okocha, an APC leader and a former SSG in Rivers State, led the supporters under the Amalgamated Bola Tinubu Campaign Council in making the recommendation.
Magnus Abe abandoned the party for the SDP, and Okocha criticised his decision to occupy the front seat in Tinubu’s political veranda in Rivers state.
