With a recent debate, she held at the LGA Council Hall in Aboh Mbaise, which included the Imo State Action Democratic Party (ADP) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kachi Nwoga and others, while excluding notable appointees of Governor Hope Uzodimma from the same community, Barrister Ogechi Njoku-Ehirim, appears to have ignited a political storm.

The meeting, which she seemingly convened as preparatory steps to plan towards the upcoming Iriji-Mbaise in August of 2023, had in attendance some people who had opposed the holding of Iriji-Mbaise of 2022, where Governor Hope Uzodimma was honoured with the chieftaincy title of “Enyioma of the Mbaise,” while virtually no government appointee from Mbaise was invited, including the three Commissioners from Mbaise.

Given that the SOLAD selected by Governor Hope Uzodimma opted to meet with a guy challenging the governor in the November 11, 2023 election, several Mbaise APC stakeholders were irritated by the most recent event.

Oluoha Mbaise, led by Prince Perry Opara of Ezinihite Mbaise and Ndi Eze Mbaise, arranged the Iriji-Mbaise of 2022.

According to reports, Oluoha Mbaise objected to Ezuruezu Mbaise’s intention to forgo holding Iriji in 2023. Rumour has it that Chief Emeka Ihedioha, from whom Uzodimma seized the seat of the governor of Imo State in January 2020, ordered Ezuruezu Mbaise not to hold Iriji last year. However, the historic occasion took place, and Uzodimma was honoured and welcomed.

The last may not have been heard of the matter, according to a prominent Mbaise son and significant party stakeholder who did not want to be named but described Njoku-decision Ehirim’s to meet with Ezuruezu Mbaise and the Imo State ADP Candidate as a slap in the face to those who toiled and took risks last year to organise the Iriji-Mbaise of 2022, where the governor was honoured.

Aboh Mbaise LGA will serve as the host of the Iriji-Mbaise event in 2023.
