Before winners are sworn in, a lawyer will advocate for the court’s decision in 2023

Aloy Ejimakor has argued against having 2023 general election victors who have yet to have their victory confirmed by the courts take the oath of office.

This was reported on Friday by lawyer Ejimakor on his verified Twitter account. He also argued that no constitutional clause required such a victor to “be sworn in” when their victory was being challenged.

Citing him, he said, “It is unlawful to swear in a winner whose victory has not been certified by the Court given that the FINALITY of election results is decided by the Court, save when the INEC-declared result is uncontested.

Where does the law require such a winner to take the oath of office? None!”

In response, one Okwudili Aneke tweeted: “In an unlawful Nigerian society, it is unlawful to be lawful. You can learn more from the Aso Rock cartels.

According to a user of the account #fortressofsusa, “Delaying the inauguration of a new president until the outcome of the presidential election litigation will speed up the process.” The defendats’ pointless applications and stalling strategies will stop.

The APC government “doesn’t respect the Supreme Court or the constitution,” said Katchu U in a tweet. You may add your own examples, such as “INEC vs. Obi election material inspection,” “the new naira CBN vs. El-Rufi’a,” and “El-Zakzaki vs. Nnamdi Kanu.”

“Don’t forget that you are addressing the government of a Country that operates a jungle-like system where everything goes,” Angus Okeke wrote. Only in Nigeria can all laws take a back seat to impunity.

Yet, according to Aladeji Ayodele, an election winner is believed to be returned unless the Court establishes the contrary.

He believed that “there can’t be a vacuum. The individual who has been pronounced the winner stays the winner in legal terms. We make amends if it is later discovered that something was wrong.

“This occurred on a number of previous instances. Even Datti Baba-Ahmed previously had his status as a senator before the Court overturned it. In the meanwhile, we migrate.
