Ten political parties have declared their intention to participate in the following local government elections, which are expected to take place in February 2024, according to the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, or ODIEC.

The Commission’s Commissioner in charge of Communication, Publicity, and ICT, Mr. Tunde Adeleye, acknowledged that a deadline had been set for political parties to submit their list of candidates for the elections in a news release he released on the organization’s behalf.

The statement claims that, out of all political parties, 10 have fully complied with the order and have sent ODIEC their list of candidates within the allotted time limit.

Adeleye underlined that by swiftly publicizing the names and personal information of the individuals vying for Councilor posts, ODIEC has complied with its legal requirements.

This information has been posted in all 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the local government offices of ODIEC to guarantee transparency and accessibility.

He continued by saying that disclosing the information on the candidates is an important step in fostering transparency and arming voters with the knowledge they need to cast educated ballots.

By making this data easily accessible, ODIEC hopes to promote an inclusive democratic process and increase public engagement in the following local government elections.
