Push Africa Foundation (PAF), an Organization, stated its independent study showed Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri is the most popular candidate.

According to a public opinion survey of gubernatorial contenders, Governor Diri leads in popularity and acceptability.

The organization’s physical and online surveys predicted that Diri would win the November 11, 2023, governor election with 45% of the vote.

Chief Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, placed second with 20%, while Engr. Udengs Eradiri of the Labour Party (LP) placed third with 10%.

Our correspondent in Abuja found that the physical poll was conducted in six villages in each of the state’s eight LGAs.

A detailed analysis of the poll results indicated that 74,000 registered voters voted online and 11,800 physically throughout the eight Local Government Areas.

The poll was performed in eight Local Government Areas for one month, with 65 percent male, 35 percent female, and 55 percent youth participation.

The opinion poll found that voters chose Diri based on his political tolerance and maturity, serene demeanour, accommodating nature, the continuing building of the three Senate highways, and worker welfare.

The Push Africa Foundation conducted the impartial poll from June 28 to July 29, 2023.

Ms. Doris Egberamen, Executive Director of the Push Africa Foundation (PAF), confirmed the results of her organization and added that the second phase of the survey would take place in September to discover any new developments and engage additional communities and registered voters.

The Director suggested a second survey since 25% of respondents were unsure.

She said Push Africa Foundation, which conducted the 2019 Bayelsa gubernatorial debate with media partners, would arrange the 2023 debate.

The organizer commended the participants for being honest, objective, and timely in their assessments of the gubernatorial candidates and expressed confidence that the opinion poll findings would help the public make well-informed governorship election choices.
