Ikorodu City, a Nigeria National League team headquartered in Lagos, has announced a cooperation with five-time UEFA Champions League champion FC Barcelona and Spanish club Atletic Sant Just Futbol Club (ATSJ) to host the first Lagos City Cup.
The club recently built relationships with both teams via player transfers and middlemen, and this competition will provide participating players with a chance to be seen by FC Barcelona and Atletic Sant Just FC throughout the window.
16 teams from Nigeria are anticipated to compete in the Lagos City Cup in 2023, including the host team Ikorodu City. The teams will compete for the championship while having their players scouted for professional contracts in Spain. The competition will take place from July 1 to July 4 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.
