In response to the recent Supreme Court decision dismissing the disqualification suit against President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate during the recently concluded February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has commented.

Atiku insisted that the President-elect was ineligible to contest the election, asserting that the Court’s decision to dismiss the lawsuit was not a setback to his pursuit of justice.

According to the former vice president, both the constitutional requirements and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s electoral standards were broken in the 2023 election, which resulted in fraud.

Atiku stated that his legal team would tenaciously demonstrate that the recently held election was fraudulent and did not adhere to the constitutional requirements and the electoral guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in a post via his verified Twitter account on Friday following the Supreme Court ruling.

As previously reported by News Men, the Apex Court rejected the PDP’s lawsuit attempting to disqualify Tinubu and Shettima from the 2023 presidential election.

The party was allegedly contesting a double nomination.

According to the Supreme Court, the PDP’s lawsuit was utterly without substance.

Atiku asserted that he is committed to establishing a new order in the country and would not withdraw at this time.

He claimed that the Supreme Court’s decision to reject the PDP case “is not a setback to my pursuit of justice. Our legal team is prepared to make a strong case that the election on February 25 was rigged, did not adhere to the Constitution’s standards and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s electoral procedures, and that the declared winner was not even eligible to contest the election.

“I have given my all in the fight for democracy and the installation of a new system to promote growth and development in Nigeria, and at this juncture, when our country is at a turning point, I’m not ready to give up. We are confident that our great Justices will provide the ruling that will serve as a dignified requiem for mandate bandits sooner rather than later.

“I ask my supporters to be patient and behave peacefully as we carefully pursue our legal action before the Presidential Election Tribunal Court,” the candidate said.
