Nigeria’s political climate is filled with anxiety and stress as the presidential election petition tribunal begins hearings in Abuja, the country’s capital.

The petitions contesting the results of the February 25 presidential election are the first to be heard by the tribunal.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP’s nominee, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party are contesting Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the election’s victor.

In response to alleged anomalies at voting booths during the presidential election, Atiku is asking the court, among other things, to force the electoral board to hold a new election.

According to Obi, Tinubu could not obtain the majority of valid votes or one-fourth of the vote in the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT.

Bola Tinubu won the election with 8,794,726 votes, Atiku came in second with 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi trailed as the second runner-up with 6,101,533 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Nigerians have shared their perspectives on what they feel should be the court’s proper ruling on social media in light of what to expect during today’s hearings.

Social media has already begun to spread images and videos from the court.
