APC wants police and SSS to safeguard Atiku and look into an attempted assault

After Boko Haram militants failed to target Atiku Abubakar’s home, the All Progressives Congress (APC) said he should be fully protected.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, announced this on Tuesday in response to the thwarted Boko Haram assaults on Mr. Abubakar’s Yola home and ABTI University.

He asked the police and State Security Service to probe the PDP’s claim that the APC was behind the assault. As an ancient party, the PDP should not engage in such empty and stupid calumny, Mr. Morka said.

“In continuation of its vacuous and mindless campaign of calumny, the PDP has alleged that suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, arrested by the police following their foiled plot to attack the residence of Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, and its presidential candidate, in Yola, were sponsored by the APC,” the statement said. After its catastrophic setback in the February 25 presidential election, the PDP obsesses about lying and gibberish.

“This weird and stupid charge comes just days after the same gravely ailing party stated, without a shred of substance, that APC was involved in a scheme to intimidate judges,” it said.

The APC said Mr. Abubakar is a Nigerian and deserves complete legal protection.

Our law enforcement must investigate and punish threats against his person, family, or assets. “But, Atiku’s PDP cannot continue to peddle criminal blackmail and vile lies in the name of opposition politics, uncontrolled and without responsibility,” said the governing party. “We urge on the police, DSS, and other relevant security agencies to examine the PDP’s wild and spurious charges, invite its leadership to prove these claims, and bring the culprits to justice.”
