APC Starts Member Electronic Registration

To strengthen its membership, the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronically registers over 40 million members before the 2027 general elections.

According to Naija News, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje announced this on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of elected Deputy National Officers and National Executive Committee members at the party secretariat in Abuja.

The latest development comes two years after Mai Mala Buni-led National Caretaker Committee led a nationwide membership registration exercise, bringing the number to over 40 million.

Ganduje told Abuja journalists that the electronic registration innovation captures the party’s current membership strength, given the 2023 presidential election.

The former Kano State governor said the party’s votes didn’t reflect its membership.

The APC national chairman said the party has completed plans to establish a National Institute of Democratic Studies to help Nigerians adopt democratic and political values.

He said, “Recall, we had 41 million members. We only had eight million during the presidential election. What happened to others? This is why we must be digital and use accurate data.

Another step we took was reviewing our registration electronically. The work began. Be ready to register all our members electronically, so we have an exact number physically.”
