Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has been requested to withdraw the election petition and congratulate Delta State Governor-elect Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Nicholas Ovuakporie, the former State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, issued the warning.

He urged the APC Governorship flagbearer, Senator Omo-Agege, to make a statement and congratulate Oborevwori in the spirit of sportsmanship.

“The Deputy President of the Senate should be Manly enough to make the call to congratulate the Governor-elect rather than waste energy on an electoral petition that will take him nowhere,” he said.

The former APC State Secretary, who defected to the PDP on January 24th, just weeks before the Presidential/Governorship election, made the appeal while interacting with media in Warri on Friday.

“For my part, Senator Omo-Agege should congratulate the Governor-elect,” he remarked.

“He should congratulate His Excellency in Waiting, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor-elect.” Senator Omo-Agege should congratulate him.

“He cannot appeal or contest the judgement of the electorates, especially in a circumstance when the election was conducted in the most free and fair manner.”

“Let him be a Statesman enough to make the call to congratulate the winner and join hands with him to lead the State forward.”

“There is no need for pointless squabbling. Senator Omo-Agege should congratulate the winner.”

Despite being a founding member, Chief Ovuakporie maintained that he had no regrets about quitting the APC at the time he did, and he expressed satisfaction with the election of Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP as Delta State Governor-elect.

“The PDP win validated Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s hard work and purposeful leadership in the State, notably his infrastructure transformation.”

“Above all, it is a triumph of democracy against evil.” That was a win for the people and ordinary Deltans. That was a defeat of evil’s deeds.” I was ecstatic.

“But I was not shocked because I thought the PDP was going to win because of the incumbent Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, who has grown all areas of the State economy.”

“He has had an influence on every aspect of growth.” There is no undeveloped area of the state.

“I saw well ahead of me, and my actions were properly led by heavenly direction.” It was about protecting our beloved country and, as I have stated, against evil’s acts. I have no regrets about joining the PDP and participating in this victory.

“I tried my utmost to secure success for the party in the short time I was a member, as evidenced by the election results from my unit 12 in Oyede ward 12 Isoko North L.G.A.”

“I won my Unit and Ward in the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.” At the polls, I defeated the APC and all other parties. In the presidential election, I also won my unit on the Atiku/Okowa ticket. “I have no regrets,” the former APC head stated.

He also asked his relatives in Delta State’s Isoko nation to “maintain faith with the PDP and the Governor-elect, adding that “Oborevwori will consolidate on the successes of the departing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and progress Delta State to the next level.”
