APC Bigwig and His Son Are Killed by Alleged Herdsmen

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. John Mai Kyau, and his son were shot and killed in Mangu local government in Plateau state by gunmen who are thought to be herders.

On May 10, 2023, a politician was assassinated in his home in the Bureh village in Halle Ward.

In the Mangu Local Council’s Allah Na Nakowa hospital, his wife and another son, who were wounded in the leg and stomach, managed to flee with gunshot wounds.

Dan Mangu, a community leader and the victim’s uncle, confirmed the event to the Nation on Friday.

At about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the man claimed the attack occurred in Bureh village.

Around 8:00 p.m., more than 60 herdsmen entered Mangu Halle Ward in Bureh Village and made their way to the victim’s residence, a powerful APC chieftain.

He claimed that the assailants forced their way inside the home and started shooting at them in the parlour, killing him and his son.

It was learned that security has reportedly been sent to the neighbourhood to help settle things down.

In the midst of unrest in the town, Hon. John and his son were buried on Thursday afternoon.
