Edwin Osuala, the new commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra State, has tasked the command’s officers with using their experience to lessen the state’s crime wave.

At his first meeting with all the deputy commandants and assistant commandants on Thursday at the State Command Headquarters in Awka, Osuala made this statement.

This is in accordance with a statement made on Friday by DSC Okadigbo Edwin, the state commandant’s public relations officer.

In order to fulfil the Corps’ mandate with the utmost commitment and dedication, Osuala stated his willingness to work in accordance with the vision and objectives of the Corps under the direction of Commandant-General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

He reaffirmed that the command he is in charge of will strive tirelessly to uphold its constitutional obligations, combat crime, and render the state unwelcoming to all kinds of illegal activity.

“It’s our responsibility to keep Anambra State’s citizens safe and secure. You should collaborate with me and act ethically as senior officers while giving the public the required services.

Projecting the positive image of the Corps is our common obligation, and that is why I was brought here, Osuala continued. “Educate your subordinates to accomplish what is expected of them.”

He admonished the senior officials to warn their subordinates away from corruption and rudeness to the public.

He declared: “Necessary mercenaries will be dispatched to monitor the actions of personnel deployed for any mission, and any erring commander shall be dealt with accordingly.”

The conference finished with the state director of the NSCDC and the senior officers discussing how to improve and use fresh tactics to solidify further the operational model for securing the state.
