AS Roma’s Serie A encounter against Udinese took a distressing turn as the match was halted in the second half due to a medical emergency involving Roma’s Evan Ndicka, the club confirmed.

Ndicka’s sudden health issue prompted immediate action. The player was swiftly taken to the hospital for a comprehensive evaluation, where his teammates later joined him for support.

Roma posted on social media an update on Ndicka’s condition: “Evan is feeling better and is in good spirits. He will remain in the hospital for further observations. Forza Evan!”

Footage from the match captured Ndicka, despite being away from the ball, experiencing discomfort and subsequently sitting down on the field in the 71st minute. Medical personnel promptly intervened as Ndicka clutched his chest, leading to the suspension of play.

The French-born defender, representing Ivory Coast internationally, was stretchered off the pitch, appearing conscious and alert throughout the ordeal.

Following a brief delay, officials decided to abandon the match at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy, which was evenly poised at 1-1.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, both Roma and Udinese expressed solidarity with Ndicka. Roma stated, “Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended.” At the same time, Udinese posted, “We are with you, Ndicka.”
