Its President, Godswill Akpabio, has chosen the 10th Senate’s chairs for Special Committees.
In accordance with the Standing Orders 2022, as Amended, the President appointed members to the Selection Committee, of which he is the Chairman, the Deputy Senate President is the Vice Chairman, Senator Jibrin Barau is a member, and other key officers from both the majority and minority are also included.
Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central, Senate Majority Leader; Senator Ali Ndume, APC, Borno, Senate Chief Whip; Senator Dave Umahi, APC, Ebonyi South, Deputy Leader; and Senator Lola Ashiru, APC, Kwara South, Deputy Whip are all members of the selection committee.
Senators Oyewumi Kamorudeen Olarere, PDP Osun West, the Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, PDP, Plateau North, the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, LP, Abia Central, and Senator Rufai Hanga, NNPP, Kano Central, are also members.
The Senate President appointed Senator Tutus Zam, APC, of Benue North West, as the Chairman of Rules and Business; Senator Sunday Karimi, APC, of Kogi West, as Chairman of Senate Services; Senator Okechukwu Ezea, LP, of Enugu East, as Chairman, Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions; and Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada, SDP, of Nasarawa West, as Chairman, Public Accounts Committee.
Other committees include the National Security and Intelligence Committee, which Senator Shehu Umar chairs; the Legislative Compliance Committee, which Senator Garba Maidoki chairs; and the Committee on Media and Public Affairs, which Senator Adeyemi Adaramodu of the APC chairs in Ekiti.
Also, Akpabio selected Senator Ali Ndume of the APC from Borno South as Vice Chairman and Senator Olamilekan Adeola of the APC from Ogun West as Head of the Appropriations Committee.
